Personal data is processed only when the website is delivered to your browser and when you write to me by email.

Applicable law

This policy provides the information required by the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR where they apply, the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and US state privacy laws, including the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA).

Visiting the website (hosting)

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., USA. When you open a page, your browser automatically transmits technical data, which the hosting provider records in server logs:

• IP address
• date and time of the request
• page or file requested
• website from which you came (referrer)
• browser type and version, operating system

This data is required to deliver the website and to keep it secure and stable, for example to detect misuse. I do not use it to identify you and do not combine it with other data. The legal basis under the GDPR is Article 6 (1) (f) (legitimate interest in a secure and reliable website). The server logs are kept by Netlify for a limited period and then deleted. Images are optimized and delivered by the same provider.

Counting PDF downloads

When you open one of the two PDF documents of my LinkedIn carousel (German or English, for example via sainaveigel.com/carousel), I count this download. Only the day of the download, the document, the country that the hosting provider derives from your IP address and whether the request came from an automated program (for example a search engine or a link preview, recognized by the browser identifier) are stored. Your IP address, the browser identifier and the time of day are not stored for this count. Only the total number of downloads per day, document and country is kept, with no reference to individual people. No cookies are set and nothing is stored on your device. The figures are visible only to me and help me assess the reach of my publications. The legal basis under the GDPR is Article 6 (1) (f) (legitimate interest in assessing the reach of my own publications). The count is stored in Netlify’s database.

Contact by email

The email link opens your own email program; the website itself does not transmit any data. When you write to me, I process your email address, your name if provided and the content of your message in order to answer your request. The legal basis under the GDPR is Article 6 (1) (b) (steps prior to a contract or performance of a contract) or Article 6 (1) (f) (legitimate interest in answering requests). I delete your messages when they are no longer needed, unless statutory retention obligations apply (under Swiss law, business correspondence must be kept for up to ten years).

Unencrypted email can be read by third parties in transit. Please do not send confidential information by email.

Cookies

This website does not set any cookies for visitors and does not store anything on your device. For this reason, there is no cookie banner.

Links to other websites

Links to LinkedIn, AI TechDoc and other websites are plain links. No data is passed to these providers until you click a link. After that, the privacy policy of the provider concerned applies. Subscribing to my newsletters takes place on LinkedIn.

Recipients and transfers abroad

The only recipient of personal data from visiting this website is the hosting provider Netlify. Its servers are located in the United States and in other countries. Where data is transferred to a country without an adequate level of data protection, the transfer is based on appropriate safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

No sale, no profiling

I do not sell or share personal information, including within the meaning of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). I do not use personal information for targeted advertising, profiling or automated decision-making.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

This website does not track visitors, either on this website or across other websites. Signals such as Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are respected because no tracking takes place in the first place.

Children

This website is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16 (in the United States, under 13).

Your rights
